At least 404 candidates in Tamil Nadu have serious criminal cases against them: Report

At least 404 candidates contesting in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections have declared that serious criminal cases are pending against them and 722 candidates have declared that they have criminal cases pending against them, according to a report released by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and Tamil Nadu Election Watch (TNEW) on Sunday (April 19, 2026).

TNEW State coordinator P. Joseph Victor Raj released the report and it was received by Jayaram Venkatesan, State Coordinator of Arappor Iyakkam.
