The Meppayur police have launched an investigation into an incident in which four minor Madrasa students from Cheruvannur were allegedly beaten up by two residents on Thursday (April 16, 2026) night.

The alleged assault took place when the students were reportedly busy with wall writing work for their institution. Two of the injured students were referred to the Medical College Hospital, Kozhikode, following the incident.

Police sources said the suspects were identified based on the statements of the injured students. The two reportedly turned aggressive following a quarrel over obtaining permission for campaign work on the private property, they added.
