Herculean task needed to stop sewage polluting Vaippar from Sattur town

For years, Sattur Assembly constituency has been notorious for illegal fireworks units. Mostly, these units function in houses and also in sheds in both Sattur and Vembakottai unions.

After gaining work experience in fireworks units, workers set up their own units with an eye on bigger profits.

With no licence or safety measures in place, accidents have been reported in such units as they use highly-sensitive chemicals. Not only the owners and workers, sometimes even the neighbours, including children, become victims to the explosions.
