The government’s thrust on infrastructure and electric vehicles has opened up a wide range of scope for professionals in core engineering faculties like Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical and Electronics Engineering, M.S. Haji Sheik Mohammed, Dean, School of Infrastructure, B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology, said on Saturday.
Speaking on the topic ‘Core Engineering in Modern Era: Relevance and Career Prospects’ at The Hindu EducationPlus Career Counselling Fair 2026, Dr. Mohammed said the demand for core engineers was far more than what is perceived by students. He said the country was producing 20,000 civil engineers annually while there was a demand for 74,000 of them.
