South actor Prakash Raj is currently going through an emotional period following the death of his mother. For those unaware, his mother, Swarnalatha Raj, passed away on March 31, 2026, in Bengaluru due to age-related illness.
Her last rites were performed according to Christian customs, and a picture from the ceremony has been widely circulated online, leading to Prakash Raj being trolled. For those who may not know, a video of Prakash Raj’s mother’s funeral has surfaced online where he can be seen in a church with his family. Alongside this, a video of one of his old interviews has also gone viral where he can be heard describing himself as an atheist. Based on this, some people have been questioning why, if he does not believe in God, he conducted his mother’s last rites according to religious traditions.
In response, Prakash Raj gave a direct reply on the social media platform. While sharing the screengrab of the viral post, he wrote, “Yes. I don’t believe in god .. but my mother believed in her god. Who am i to deny her.. the right to be buried according to her belief. This is the basic respect we give one another. Will you Hate mongering monsters understand this #justasking.”
