A property that belonged to the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, J. Jayalalithaa, in Hyderabad was seized for a day by the civic authorities, as the owners defaulted on payment of property tax. The property in Srinagar Colony was reportedly released on Tuesday (March 31, 2026) after the process for payment was initiated.

Tax on the stilt-plus-four storeys property has been due since 2017, accumulating to a total ₹1.6 crore along with arrears and penal interest, officials informed. After the waiver of 90% interest according to the One Time Settlement scheme applicable till March 31, the total payable amount came down close to ₹83 lakh.
