Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao on Sunday accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of attempting to divert public attention from the ‘failures’ of his government by proposing the construction of a temple, mosque and church along the Musi River using government funds.

Drawing a comparison, Mr. Rao said the BJP-led Central government had facilitated the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya through a Trust and voluntary contributions from people across the country. He alleged that the Congress government was resorting to ‘symbolic gestures’ instead of addressing pressing governance issues.

Speaking at a function to welcome new entrants into the BJP, Mr. Rao alleged that Hyderabad had suffered neglect during the 10-year BRS rule and continued to face similar apathy under the current administration. In contrast, he credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for the significant infrastructure development in and around Hyderabad, citing the expansion of national highways and improved regional connectivity.

Initiatives such as ‘Make in India’ and ‘Stand Up India’ have generated large-scale employment opportunities for youth by attracting defence production units and mobile manufacturing facilities to the region. The Prime Minister, Mr. Rao, claimed not only ensured an uninterrupted supply of fuel and cooking gas but also managed to reduce prices without burdening the public.

He urged intellectuals, women and the youth to support the BJP in the upcoming Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections to put an end to what he termed ‘family-based politics’ and ‘corrupt Congress rule’.

In a separate development, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar made serious allegations against the Chief Minister, claiming that he had arrived at an ‘understanding’ with BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao while former Minister T. Harish Rao was being selectively targeted.

Mr. Kumar questioned why corruption cases against Mr. Rama Rao were not being actively pursued and alleged that Mr. Revanth Reddy was mediating to facilitate a rapproachement between Mr. Rama Rao and his sister Kalvakuntla Kavitha. He also alleged that the Chief Minister’s earlier opposition to BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao had ‘softened’, suggesting a tacit understanding between the two leaders.
