As part of the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar (Healthy woman, strong family) campaign, the Telangana Health department will organise 20,639 health camps for women across the State till October 2. The announcement was made by Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha during the inauguration of the programme at Community Health Centre (CHC) Ameerpet, Hyderabad on Wednesday.

The 16-day campaign, launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, will include health check-ups and screening camps for non-communicable diseases (NCDs), cancers, anaemia, tuberculosis and sickle cell disease. It will also provide maternal and child healthcare services, promote awareness on nutrition and hygiene, and encourage voluntary blood donation to strengthen public health. In addition, the initiative will highlight treatment approaches through AYUSH for conditions such as anaemia, NCDs and polycystic ovarian disease (PCOD) among women and children.

The Minister said that specialist consultations will be available at Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad hospitals and teaching hospitals, while mega health camps with super-specialist doctors will be conducted in each district.

“Women are the builders of society. If they are healthy, families and society will be healthy too. That is why we are giving priority to women’s health care in the state,” the Minister said. He added that dedicated women’s clinics are already operational, offering free diagnostic tests, treatment and medicines.

Recalling that Maternal and Child Health Care Centres were set up in 2012–13 in united Andhra Pradesh, the Minister said that these centres have since expanded across Telangana to serve pregnant women, lactating mothers and children.
