The Vocational Higher Secondary Education (VHSE) wing of the General Education department has received the National Council for Vocational Education and Training’s ‘Awarding Body – Dual’ (AB-Dual) status.

With this, the VHSE in the State will be able to design courses according to the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) and give them approval.

A Letter of Intent has been issued by National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) director Lt. Col. Vikram Singh Bhati in this connection. As per the letter issued on March 25, the VHSE wing has got the right to use this recognition for Kerala alone. The NCVET is set up under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

Curriculum developed by the VHSE within 90 days of the order should be submitted for national-level scrutiny. Once these stipulations are met, an agreement can be signed with the NCVET and permanent recognition can be received. This will make it possible for VHSE to develop vocational courses on its own and issue certificates. Moreover, certificates issued to VHSE students in the State will also get more recognition at the national and international levels.
