The Department of Studies in Business Administration at B.N. Bahadur Institute of Management Sciences (BIMS), University of Mysore, Mysuru will celebrate its golden jubilee at the Senate Bhavan in Manasagangotri campus on March 28 at 9.30 a.m.

Established in 1974, the department has been a pioneer in management education in the region, and has produced a large number of graduates who now hold key positions in the corporate and business sectors, both in India and abroad, bringing laurels to their alma mater.

The golden jubilee celebrations are being organised by the alumni of the institution, marking five decades of academic excellence and institutional growth.

According to the organisers, the department began its journey under the visionary leadership of the university and J. K. Irani, and has since grown into a reputed centre for management studies.

Vice-Chancellor N. K. Lokanath will inaugurate the event. M. R. Jaishankar, Executive Chairman of Brigade Group and an alumnus from the first MBA batch, will be the chief guest.

Registrar M. K. Savitha and Registrar (Evaluation) N. Nagaraja will be present.

On the occasion, the department will launch its alumni association aimed at connecting its ‘glorious past with a promising future’ by fostering mentorship and professional networking among graduates.

The event will feature the felicitation of Professsor Anand, who is retiring after nearly four decades of service. Prof. Anand has played a key role in the growth of the institution by nurturing generations of management graduates, promoting research, and enhancing the institute’s academic stature, according to the organisers.

Dr. Mahesh Rajagopal, Chairperson of BIMS, described the occasion as ‘a moment of immense pride and nostalgia’, and said the celebrations would bring together alumni, faculty and students to mark the milestone.
