There was no progress in the Tamil Nadu Assembly election seat-sharing talks between the ruling DMK and the CPI-M on Friday (March 20, 2026). Both sides did not communicate with each other, sources said.

Another key ally, the VCK also has demanded at least eight seats, but the DMK has offered only seven. The delay in finalising seat-sharing has stalled the next phase of identifying constituencies and announcing candidates.
