The vacancies of medical officers in Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and tutors in government teaching hospitals in the State are likely to be filled soon as the Department of Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare has prepared the final list of candidates selected for these posts.

According to a press release from the department on Thursday (March 19), 4,984 MBBS graduates had applied for the 630 posts after a notification regarding the vacancies was issued in September last year.

The selected candidates will be given postings through online mode of counseling, which will be held next week. About 60% of those selected for the postings are women, according to the release. Most of them will be deputed as medical officers in PHCs as out of the total, 512 vacancies are in PHCs. The remaining vacancies include tutor posts.

In a press statement, Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Satya Kumar Yadav said the NDA government has filled 910 posts in PHCs in total, including the current round of recruitment and the one carried out in 2024 when 280 posts were filled.

Once the selected candidates join duty, there will be almost no vacancies in PHCs, the Minister said, adding that vacancies are being filled regularly under a zero-vacancy policy.

The Minister also said the recruitment for 317 Assistant Professor posts will soon be conducted to meet the needs of teaching hospitals.
