Canadian High Commissioner Christopher Cooter met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 and held detailed discussions on advancing partnership in the areas of investment, technology collaboration, and skill development in Uttar Pradesh.

High Commissioner Christopher Cooter emphasized the vast potential to elevate India-Canada trade and investment ties to new heights, highlighting Uttar Pradesh as an emerging center for investment and innovation.

Praising the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the state’s transformation, he noted, “Uttar Pradesh has made significant progress in infrastructure development, policy reforms, and governance in recent years, emerging as a reliable and attractive destination for global investors.”

During the meeting, the High Commissioner expressed keen interest in expanding cooperation in sectors such as green energy, LNG/LPG, critical minerals, artificial intelligence, and advanced technology.

He underscored the importance of collaboration in education and research, stating that partnerships between leading Canadian institutions and Uttar Pradesh could accelerate skill development, innovation, and global talent exchange.

He also noted that the state’s strong infrastructure, improved connectivity, and investor-friendly policies make it an attractive destination for global companies.

The High Commissioner further said, “Canadian companies are actively exploring opportunities for long-term investment and technology partnerships in Uttar Pradesh.”

He added, “Canada’s expertise in sustainable energy, clean technology, and advanced manufacturing aligns naturally with Uttar Pradesh’s development aspirations, paving the way for a strong bilateral partnership.”

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted the state’s investor-friendly environment, industrial growth, and policy reforms, inviting Canadian companies to invest in Uttar Pradesh.

Referring to the Defence Industrial Corridor and the BrahMos project, he underlined the state’s growing industrial capabilities.

The Chief Minister said, “The Uttar Pradesh government is ensuring a transparent, stable, and industry-friendly policy environment, and will provide all necessary institutional support to accelerate technology, skill, and innovation-based collaboration with Canada. Both sides agreed to further strengthen partnership in investment, technology collaboration, and skill development.”
