The capital city of Amaravati is witnessing a vibrant transformation as stretches of the N-9 roadway are adorned with blooming yellow Tecoma (Tecoma stans) flowers, drawing admiration from commuters and officials alike.

Speaking at a recent Collectors’ conference, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu highlighted the visual appeal of the flowers, noting how their bright yellow colour offers a refreshing and pleasant experience for those traveling daily to the State Secretariat.

The initiative is being spearheaded by the Amaravati Development Corporation (ADC), which planted these shrubs along the central medians of a nearly two-kilometre stretch from Seed Access Junction to the Secretariat. The plants, sourced as high-breed varieties from Kadiyam nurseries, are known for year-round blooming.

ADC Chairperson D. Lakshmi Parthasarathy, in a press release on Wednesday said that they adopted eco-friendly practices, using 100% organic fertilizers and ‘Ghana Jeevamrutam’ to enhance plant health and visual appeal.

Maintenance efforts include monthly pruning to encourage dense flowering, daily upkeep by dedicated garden staff, and regular watering using six tankers. Security personnel have also been deployed to protect the plants from damage.

Encouraged by the success, she said they plan to expand similar greenery along other major roads, including N-10 and N-16, reinforcing Amaravati’s vision as a world-class, sustainable capital.
