The anti-defacement squad has so far removed a total of 350 campaign materials in the district, even as electioneering for the Assembly polls is yet to pick up momentum.

The materials removed include 250 posters, 70 banners, and 50 campaign boards put up by various political parties. The squad is conducting inspections across the district as part of efforts to ensure a free and fair election.

The public can report violations of the Model Code of Conduct through the cVIGIL app or via email (mccernakulam2026@gmail.com). Photos or videos of violations can be submitted in real time, an official release said.

Violations that can be reported include unauthorised posters or banners on public or private property, distributing money, liquor, or gifts to influence voters, using loudspeakers without permission, making hate speeches, disrupting communal harmony, and misuse of official vehicles.

“Upon receiving the complaint, flying squads will promptly conduct inspections and take necessary legal action,” said Shaiju P. Jacob, Additional District Magistrate and district nodal officer of the anti-defacement squad.
