HYDERABAD

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has issued a show-cause notice to former MLA from Tandur and party member Pilot Rohith Reddy seeking explanation on the alleged consumption of drugs in the meeting/party organised in his farmhouse.

In the notice sent to Mr. Reddy by party general secretary in-charge of disciplinary matters S. Bharath Kumar said it had come to the party leadership’s notice about the issue through media reports and other reliable sources and the leadership is of the view that the incident was causing harm to the reputation of the party with much media glare on the issue.

Stating that the party would strongly oppose any link of its leaders to the illegal activities, particularly the consumption of drugs or dealing with them, Mr. Bharath Kumar said as a responsible political organisation, the BRS was committed to follow moral and legal norms. The party was taking the incident involving him (Rohith Reddy) seriously.

Mr. Bharath Kumar asked Mr. Rohith Reddy to give his detailed explanation within seven days after getting the notice and asked the latter to stay away from the party activities till a final decision was taken on the issue.
