Commissioner of Raichur Mahanagar Palike Jubin Mohapatra has sought suggestions from organisations and political leaders in view of the preparations under way for the corporation Budget for 2026-27.

Chairing a preliminary meeting in Raichur on Monday, Mr. Mohapatra said that as it is the first Budget to be presented after the erstwhile City Municipal Council was upgraded as corporation, every stakeholder should participate and give suggestions to be incorporated.

He said that the corporation built 2,000 houses under Ashraya Yojana to distribute them to eligible beneficiaries. He also said that garbage in drainage and storm-water drains under corporation limits has been cleared for easy flow of rainwater.

Leader and social activist Ravindra Jaldar suggested taking action in providing additional pumpsets to lift water from the Rampur reservoir and the Krishna to supply drinking water to Raichur, as the city will face problems if existing pumpsets become non-functional due to technical reasons.

The former chairman of the Usmania Vegetable Market Association N. Mahaveer said that the corporation should divide the city into zones and construct markets where vegetables, flowers, fruits and meat can be sold in one place.

Dalit leader Raju Patti suggested taking action for effective revenue collection from educational institutions in the city and also, constructing toilets for public usage.

Leader of the Pushcart and Street Vendors Association Yesumitra said that the corporation should provide a single place enabling street vendors to set up stalls, as many vendors have been evicted from the streets without prior intimation.

Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Sharanappa, Bharat, Santosh Rani, Vijay Shankar and others were present.
