A 50-year-old man was allegedly shot dead by a neighbour at Manjapra near Angamaly on Monday (March 16, 2026) evening in a suspected revenge killing. The accused surrendered at the Ayyampuzha police station and was arrested.

The victim was identified as Jose Chakku, aka Kilukkan Jose, of Manjapra Vadakkumbhagom. The accused, Pauly Jose, 57, is reportedly an ex-serviceman.

The incident occurred around 6 p.m. at Kothayithodu, a stream on the border of the Kalady and Ayyampuzha police station limits. According to the first information report, the accused allegedly opened fire at Jose Chakku when the latter had gone there for a bath. The police said Jose Chakku had been the prime accused in the murder of the accused’s father, which took place seven years ago during a property dispute.
