Govt. lays heavy emphasis on infrastructure and industrial development, says Governor

The State government has laid heavy emphasis on developing infrastructure to promote industries as the sector contributes a high of ₹3.04 lakh crore to the economy.

The State has lined up several major projects in this direction, including the National Industrial Corridor Zahirabad Smart Industrial City spread across 3,245 acres. The project is being taken up along with the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust will become operational soon as the EPC contract has been awarded by the special purpose vehicle constituted for the purpose.

The Central government has also concurred with the State government’s proposal for securing external assistance of ₹4,903 crore from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank for upgradation of infrastructure and ₹4,094 crore from the Asian Development Bank for Young India Integrated Residential Schools.

Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla revealed the State government’s plans for infrastructure development with focus on educational infrastructure during his traditional address to the joint sitting of the Legislature here on Monday. Initiating his more than one hour address in Telugu, the Governor read out the speech in English and Hindi in the later stages and ended it in Telugu again amid the din created by the Opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi members.

Mr. Shiv Pratap Shukla touched upon various aspects, including agricultural growth, housing for poor through Indiramma Indlu, 99-day action plan to take governance to the people’s doorstep and spree of measures for women empowerment implemented in the last two years. He elaborated about the reforms that were brought in the land administration system through the passage of the Telangana Bhu Bharati Act and introduction of Bhudhaar land identification system. The government appointed various field level staff, including 5,010 gram palana officers, licenced surveyors and others for strengthening land administration system at the grassroots level.

“As envisaged in thje Bhu Bharati Act, Revenue, Registration and Survey activities are being brought onto the same platform for the convenience of farmers,” he said.

The address was specific about the State’s commitment to protect its interests in respect of river waters with the Governor claiming that the State attached highest priority to the irrigation sector and was taking all necessary steps to steadfastly safeguard the interests of Telangana in Krishna and Godavari water sharing. The government had decided to complete the long pending land acquisition and resettlement & rehabilitation works pertaining to major pending projects in the next few months as it was determined to complete all the ongoing projects in the next three years creating a substantial ayacut.

The government was committed to strengthening agriculture through sustained investment in irrigation, scientific innovation and market connectivity so that ‘Telangan’s farmers don’t just endure but prosper’.
