A school in Attur Layout of Yelahanka has come under scrutiny after allegations surfaced that minor students of Classes 1 and 2 were punished by being made to stand under the scorching sun for nearly two hours for arriving late to school.

The incident reportedly occurred at Chaitanya School in Attur Layout, where parents alleged that young children were forced to remain standing outside in the blazing sun as punishment. Some parents who noticed the situation confronted the school management and objected to the alleged punishment.

According to parents, when they questioned the action, the principal allegedly behaved rudely with them, which further escalated the issue. Taking serious note of the incident, authorities stated that subjecting children to physical or mental suffering is a punishable offence under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.

Police said a case has been registered at Yelahanka New Town Police Station under the Act, which also strictly prohibits revealing the identity of any child involved in an investigation or case.

Officials have urged the public not to circulate videos or information that may disclose the identity of the children. They advised that such incidents should instead be reported directly to the police or child protection authorities.
