Telangana Jagruthi president Kalvakuntla Kavitha and Dalit Shakthi Programme State president Visharadan Maharaj who are on a fast, were shifted from Khammam to Hyderabad in an early morning swoop by the police on Tuesday (March 10, 2026).

The two leaders launched a hunger strike at Ambedkar Bhavan in Khammam on Monday night demanding justice to the displaced poor families of Vinoba Navodaya Colony, Velugumatla.

According to sources, a strong posse of police descended on Ambedkar Bhavan at around 5.45 a.m. and detained the two fasting leaders before shifting them to the State capital in a police vehicle.

Sources said that Ms. Kavitha will continue her fast at Telangana Jagruthi office in Hyderabad in support of the demand of the displaced poor people of Velugumatla for construction of houses at the site where their houses were demolished on Bhoodan lands in Khammam on February 24, 2026.
