Workshop on modern drug design concludes in Mysuru

The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru, a constituent college of JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, organised a two-day workshop, titled ‘Next Generation Therapeutic Modalities: Integrating Medicinal Chemistry and Computational Intelligence for Modern Drug Design’ here on Friday and Saturday, in association with the Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Karnataka State Branch. The workshop served as a platform to highlight emerging strategies in modern drug discovery by bringing together experts from academia and industry.

Dr. Sujay Basu, director, Discovery Chemistry, Eurofins Advinus Discovery Services, Hyderabad; Dr. B. V. S. Suneel Kumar, head, Drug Design and AI, PI Health Sciences, Hyderabad; Dr. Dhivya Shanmugarajan, scientific technical manager, Mirai Dynamics, Chennai; Dr. N. Kiruthiga, associate professor, KMCH College of Pharmacy, Coimbatore; and Dr. Saravanan P, assistant professor, Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, JSS AHER, Mysuru were present, according to a release.

The programme was aimed at providing participants with valuable insights into advanced drug discovery approaches by integrating medicinal chemistry with cutting-edge computational tools, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, and network pharmacology. The sessions focused on emerging therapeutic modalities and modern computational strategies that are shaping the future of pharmaceutical research and drug development, the release said.

Around 62 delegates, including faculty members, research scholars, and postgraduate students from various institutions across the south zone, took part in the workshop. The event created a vibrant platform for academic interaction, knowledge exchange, and interdisciplinary collaboration, the release added.
