65-year-old man gets seven-year rigorous imprisonment for abusing minor

A 65-year-old man from Muttathara has been sentenced to seven years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually abusing a 15-year-old boy. The accused, Jayakumar, alias Jayan, had already served a seven-year sentence for abusing a mentally ill woman in 2012.

The incident pertaining to the case occurred in April 2025. The accused had found the boy alone on a street and called him over and abused him. The survivor had informed his father’s friends who were nearby. Later, he also told his father about the incident over phone.

Jayakumar was sentenced by Special Judge Anju Meera Birla, Fast Track Special Court (POCSO), Thiruvananthapuram. Special Public prosecutor R.S. Vijay Mohan appeared for the prosecution. Vanchiyoor SI Alex C. had investigated the case.
