As part of the preparations for Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls, a special voter list mapping drive will be carried out on Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer B. Fauzia Taranum has said.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Ms. Taranum said that the exercise involves mapping the 2025 electoral rolls with the 2022 voter list as a preliminary step towards the Special Intensive Revision planned by the Election Commission of India in April 2026.
Acting on the directions of the Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka, preparatory work is being undertaken in all the nine Assembly constituencies in the district.
However, since the progress of the mapping exercise has been relatively slow in four constituencies, Jevargi, Kalaburagi Rural, Kalaburagi South and Kalaburagi North, the district administration has decided to organise a special campaign on Thursday to accelerate the process.
Ms. Taranum said that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will undertake the mapping work at all polling stations in the four Assembly constituencies during the special drive. Voters have been urged to actively participate to ensure that no eligible name is left out during the mapping process.
She appealed to all sections of society, including ordinary voters, prominent personalities, political leaders and party workers, government and semi-government employees, private sector staff, unorganised and organised workers, employees of non-governmental organisations, school and college staff, senior citizens, professionals and their family members, to cooperate with officials and verify that their names are properly reflected in the electoral rolls.
