Highlighting sustained gains under earlier initiatives such as Mukulam and Smile projects, the Budget has allocated ₹10 crore for infrastructure development in schools, ₹5 crore each for playground renovation and smart classrooms, and ₹5 crore for the purchase of laptops and desktops.

The other major allocations are ₹1 crore for auditorium construction, new buildings, and toilet units, and ₹50 lakh each for the construction of compound walls and purchase of furniture. Lab modernisation in higher secondary schools will receive ₹75 lakh, with ₹10 lakh for equipment purchase.

The Smile Comprehensive Education project has been allotted ₹45 lakh, while ₹50 lakh has been set aside as the panchayat’s share for the Samagra Shiksha scheme. The ‘Vision Olympics’ sports promotion scheme has been allocated ₹50 lakh, while ₹20 lakh has been earmarked for yoga, karate and culinary training in schools.

A ₹3 lakh has been set apart for the ‘Space’ project to provide a school experience to bedridden students.

Agriculture

To promote paddy cultivation, ₹2.3 crore has been earmarked. A sum of ₹50 lakh has been earmarked for solar hanging fencing along forest fringes to prevent wild animal incursions.

The dairy sector will receive ₹2.53 crore.

Health and Welfare

The health sector has been allocated ₹11.16 crore. Of this, ₹7.8 crore is for the development of the Kannur District Hospital.

A sum of ₹12 crore has been earmarked as the panchayat share for the LIFE housing scheme. Senior citizen welfare scheme accounts for ₹1.21 crore, including resting centres and cultural festivals.

The Budget has earmarked ₹6.65 crore for Scheduled Caste welfare, while ₹5 crore has been allocated for Scheduled Tribe welfare.

Road works received ₹25 crore: ₹15 crore for maintenance and ₹10 crore for macadam tarring. An amount of ₹1 crore has been set aside to identify land for an industrial park and ₹50 lakh for tourism development.

A net-zero carbon emission reduction project has been allotted ₹10 lakh, while ₹2 crore has been set apart for a mobile septage treatment unit.
