The treatment of a Trikkur resident who lost his eyesight due to alleged medical negligence at Thrissur Medical College began on Monday at an eye hospital in Coimbatore.

The expenses for his treatment are being borne by AICC General Secretary and MP K.C. Venugopal. Sanoop approached the medical college in July 2023 seeking treatment for knee pain. According to him, an infection developed at the site after he was administered an injection in his hand.

The infection worsened, spread throughout his body and eventually affected his eyes. Being diabetic, his condition deteriorated further, and he lost vision. Sanoop’s family alleges that the complication arose due to an error in administering the injection.
