An executive director of a private hospital in South Bengaluru has been booked on charges of rape and criminal intimidation following a complaint by an administrative executive of the hospital who alleged that he sexually assaulted her under the pretext of official meetings.

Based on the complaint, Siddapura Police Station has registered an FIR against Trivikram Rao, executive director of a private hospital near Ashoka Pillar in Jayanagar.

According to the survivor’s statement, she had joined the organisation around three months ago when the accused allegedly began asking her to accompany him to client and investor meetings. She alleged that under the guise of professional discussions, he subjected her to repeated sexual harassment.

On one such occasion, Rao allegedly invited her for a meeting at a star hotel and raped her in a room at The Oberoi, Bengaluru, on MG Road.

The victim further alleged that the accused threatened her with termination if she disclosed the incident to anyone. Unable to cope with the alleged harassment and intimidation, she resigned from her position and later approached the police.

The complaint was lodged three days ago, while the alleged incident is said to have occurred about a month earlier.

Police said that the accused is currently absconding and is not available either at his residence or office. Efforts are underway to trace and apprehend him.

Further investigation is on.
