Andhra Pradesh government is giving top priority to the welfare of farmers and it aims to provide a fair price for every grain grown by the farmers, said Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar. He warned that no negligence will be tolerated in the paddy procurement process in Kharif Marketing Season and action will be taken against irresponsible officials.

Along with State Civil Supplies Corporation Vice-chairman and Managing Director S. Dilli Rao and Civil Supplies Commissioner Saurabh Gaur, he conducted a regional meeting on KMS paddy procurement with the officials of Tirupati, Chittoor and SPSR Nellore districts at VC Hall of Tirupati Collectorate on Saturday (February 28, 2026).

Reviewing about the estimated paddy production during the season, purchase targets, progress achieved so far and remaining targets, he said, “The process of paddy procurement from the farmers should be transparent, fast and without causing any inconvenience. All steps should be taken to complete the procurement and payments under the minimum support price (MSP) on time.”

“Appropriate infrastructure should be provided at each paddy procurement centre. There should be weighing machines, moisture measuring devices, gunny bags, drinking water facilities, shaded accommodation, and seating arrangements. The farmers should not have to wait for long and services should be provided in a timely manner through the token system,” he added.

The minister clarified that the procurement should be done directly from the farmers without any intervention of middlemen in the procurement process. The officials were advised to set up a special helpline and grievance mechanism to resolve farmers’ complaints. They were instructed to strengthen coordination with the millers and ensure smooth transportation.
