The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Saturday (February 28, 2026) began publishing the post-SIR electoral rolls in West Bengal in phases, with figures from Bankura district showing that about 1.18 lakh names have been removed since the exercise started.

The development is significant as the State heads towards Assembly elections in the coming months. Hard copies of the updated rolls were displayed in districts such as Bankura and Cooch Behar, although the updated lists had not yet been uploaded on the designated EC portals or mobile application at the time of reporting.

District Election Officers will provide hard copies of the final roll to the political parties. The final electoral roll will also be accessible on the ECI website.

How to find your name in the voter list?

Voters may view the final electoral roll online through the official websites of the Chief Electoral Officer of West Bengal (ceowestbengal.wb.gov.in) and the ECI (eci.gov.in). By entering their name and EPIC number (Voter ID number) on the designated portal, voters can verify whether their names are included.

Names that have been confirmed will appear without any category tag. Entries that are pending verification will be marked “Under Adjudication”, and those removed from the rolls will be marked “Deleted”. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

1. Through West Bengal elections website:

– Users should select ‘Special Intensive Revision 2026’ option and then go to the section labelled ‘Final Publication of Electoral Roll- SIR 2026’

– Enter the details of the district, Assembly constituency, and select a language preference, either Bengali or English.

– Depending on the changes in polling booth designations, voters should select the appropriate part name or polling booth. This step is particularly important as part numbers may have been updated in some areas.

– Once the necessary selections are made, voters can download the final roll in PDF format, allowing them to search for their names directly.

2. Checking with Booth Level Officers (BLOs):

For those who do not have easy access to the internet, the final electoral roll can also be checked through the Booth Level Officers (BLOs), who they will be provided with hard copies of the rolls. These officials are responsible for maintaining the voter list at the ground level and can provide assistance in verifying voter enrollment status.

3. Through the ECINET mobile application (can also be used to find the new part number in case of change)

4. Accessing the Election Commission of India website at voters.eci.gov.in.

-Select ‘Download Electoral Roll’ under the ‘Services’ section.

-Then choose the State (West Bengal), Year of Revision (2026), Roll Type (SIR Final Roll 2026), District, Assembly Constituency and preferred language.

What to do if your name is not on the list?

If your name did not appear on the published final electoral roll, you will have to complete and submit Form 6. Along with Form 6, you must provide supporting documents to verify your age and residence, as well as a recent passport-sized photograph.

You can submit these materials either online through the ECI website at voters.eci.gov.in or the ECINET app, or in person to the designated BLO.

Additionally, if a name does not appear in the list, voters may also apply afresh by submitting Form 6 for enrolment.

Those whose names that are shown as “Under adjudication” may be added later to a supplementary list after the required scrutiny.
