New super-speciality block at Ernakulam MCH to be inaugurated on March 3

Health Minister Veena George will inaugurate the new super-speciality block of the Ernakulam Medical College Hospital (MCH) on March 3. Industries Minister P. Rajeeve announced this after visiting the block.

“Facilities for neurosurgery and other emergency treatments were not available at the hospital earlier. With the commissioning of the new block, such shortcomings will be addressed,” the Minister noted.

The super-speciality block will have departments such as neurosurgery, gynaecology, gastroenterology, cardiothoracic surgery, paediatric surgery, urology, and nephrology, besides transplant services, dialysis units, critical care. As many as 90 posts have been created at the hospital.

The new block was built under a project supported by the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board. The construction was completed at a cost of ₹286.66 crore. It is equipped with 16 operation theatres, 842 beds, a modern labour room, and the latest equipment.
