Raichur Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Iswar Kumar Kandoo has said that participating in any sport would help to develop physical fitness and strength, and also help to reduce stress.

He was addressing the audience after inaugurating a sports and cultural event to mark the celebrations of RDPR Utsav held at the sports stadium on the campus of the University of Agriculture Science in Raichur on February 24.

Mr. Kandoo reiterated that government employees must take part in sports to reduce stress. “Sports can help to improve mental and physical stability. Therefore, the employees’ association should organise annual sports day to show concern for employees,” he added.

Volleyball, throwball, cricket, badminton, table tennis, kabaddi, running races, and athletic and field competitions, including relay run, long jump, high jump, and swimming, were held during the event.

A large number of representatives and staff of various taluk panchayats and gram panchayats of the district participated.

The parade of various teams was a special attraction of the event.

Deputy Secretary Halasiddappa, Sharana Basavaraj, T. Roni, Vijay Shankar, Krishna Shavantageri, and others were present.
