The Home Sciences department of KVR Government College for Women organised an awareness programme on balanced diet and nutritious food in Kurnool on Monday.

The students were educated on the nutritious intake required for people of various ages and gender as per the physical work performed by them. Similarly, they were explained about the preparation of diet plan, the calories needed for a person, and to calculate the amount of proteins, vitamins and mineral salts needed for a human body.

Addressing the students, Home Sciences lecturer Jhansi Rani said several diseases can be prevented with the proper intake of nutritious food. She highlighted the need of nutritious food and balanced diet for youngsters to lead a healthy life.

College principal K. Venkat Reddy said the health of a human being depended on the food intake of a person and stressed on the need to have nutritious food for a healthy life.
