In December last year, the Election Commission of India (ECI) published the integrated draft electoral rolls of Tamil Nadu after the enumeration form period of the SIR ended. In the draft electoral roll, more than 97.3 lakh electors – or 15% of those on the roll – were removed.

In October last year, when the Commission froze the electoral roll of Tamil Nadu, the State had 6.41 crore voters. According to the draft electoral rolls, the total number of electors in the State was at 5.43 crore.
