State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) Chairperson Alexander Thomas has ordered the civic authorities to repair potholes on Chembumukku Civil Line-Attipetti Nagar Road and SA Road.

Besides repairing the pothole on Chembumukku Civil Line-Attipetti Road, a warning board and reflector should be set up at the site, the Commission said in its directive to the Thrikkakara municipal secretary. The municipal secretary should also submit a report to the Commission on the steps taken.

Mr. Thomas said the Kochi Corporation secretary should take immediate action to fill the pothole near the Kadavanthra metro station on SA Road. Handrails should be installed at the site to prevent accidents. Warning boards should also be set up if necessary. The Commission directed the Corporation secretary to submit a report on the work done within a week.

The removal of drainage slabs between Edappally Canal and the parish hall of St. Michael’s Church on Chembumukku Civil Line-Attipetti Nagar Road is posing a threat to locals and students of a nearby school, the Commission noted.

The cases were registered suo motu by the Commission based on a newspaper report.
