Hyderabad parliamentarian Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday (February 21, 2026) expressed concern over what he described as an increasing number of communal incidents in Telangana, and touched upon the recent incidents in Banswada and Sadasivpet

Taking to X, Mr. Owaisi demanded that a First Information Report (FIR) be registered and a proper investigation conducted into the Banswada incident. He sought to know how a large crowd could have been mobilised within a few hours even as he stated that that videos circulating on social media showed members of a right-wing group engaging in criminal activities.

Mr. Owaisi, who is the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president, said that shops and street vendors belonging to the minority community were specifically targeted during the violence.

The AIMIM president said he was in touch with the party’s Kamareddy district general secretary, Sayeed Khan, and had instructed him to prepare a report on the damage caused by the mob violence. He demanded that the State government compensate people whose properties were damaged, and said the AIMIM would extend assistance and relief to the affected persons.

Referring to the demolition of Masjid-e-Moulana in Sadasivpet by Revenue authorities, Mr. Owaisi said he had asked Karwan MLA Kausar Mohiuddin and district party president Sheikh Ghouse to hold discussions with local officials. He said the land owner, Mohd Kaleem, had purchased the land from an individual identified as Raju and had been in possession of it for the past two years, during which time a borewell had also been dug.

Mr. Owaisi alleged that the owner had faced harassment from anti-social elements from the outset, and questioned why the Revenue authorities, who claimed the property was inam land, acted only after a shed was constructed rather than at any point during the previous two years.

The increasing number of communal incidents in Telangana is very concerning. I spoke to the SP, Kamareddy, and demanded that an FIR be lodged and a proper investigation conducted into the #Banswada violence. How is it possible that such a large crowd was mobilised within a few…
