HRD Minister Nara Lokesh on Friday said the State Central Library proposed in Amaravati should stand as a symbol of Andhra Pradesh’s rich history and culture.

Addressing a review meeting with officials of the School Education Department at his Undavalli residence, Mr. Lokesh examined the design model of the State Central Library building proposed in Amaravati and watched a video presentation prepared by experts on the project and offered suggestions.

Mr. Lokesh asked the officials to develop the Central Library into a world-class knowledge hub equipped with modern technological facilities. He said the library should stand as a symbol of the State’s glorious history and heritage.

He said the new facility should include archives and auditorium amenities and ensure access to more than 1.5 million books.

Learning outcomes

The meeting also discussed measures to improve academic standards and successful conduct of Class X examinations and enhancement of the learning abilities.

After discussing implementation of the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) programme in government schools, the use of clicker videos and the 100-day action plan for Class X students, the Minister enquired about the number of parents who had downloaded the LEAP (Learning Enhancement and Academic Progress) app, introduced in government schools to monitor student attendance and academic performance. He directed officials to take steps to create greater awareness among parents about the app.

The meeting deliberated on use of AI tutors in government schools, development works at Nidamarru school, evaluation of Class X examination answer scripts and matters related to the DSC (District Selection Committee) recruitment process.

Education Secretary Kona Sasidhar, School Education Commissioner V. Vijaya Rama Raju, Samagra Shiksha State Project Director B. Srinivasa Rao and Director of Public Libraries Krishna Mohan among others attended the meeting.
