The 191st birth anniversary of saint-philosopher Ramakrishna Paramahamsa was observed by the Tirupati unit of Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama on Wednesday evening.
Commemorating ‘Sri Ramakrishna Jayanti’ falling on February 19 (Thursday), a huge procession titled ‘Sobha Yatra’ was taken out as a prelude from the Ashrama premises at Vinayaka Nagar, passing through the streets of Tirupati covering Alipiri, Nandi Circle, Anna Rao Circle and Hare Krishna road.
With the Ashrama secretary Swami Sukritananda leading from the front, devotees of the Ramakrishna order joined the procession by singing devotional songs, chanting verses and ‘bhajans’, and some performing ‘Kolatam’.
Children dressed up as Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and Mother Sarada walked ahead of the procession, which turned out to be a highlight.
