Sanofi Healthcare India (SHIPL) is expanding its global capability centre (GCC) in Hyderabad with the addition of 2.7 lakh sq.ft. of working space.

The GCC, with the additional space, can host up to 4,500 employees from the earlier projected 2,600 making it one of Sanofi’s largest talent concentrations globally. It would also position the site as one of the top three pharma GCCs in India, the company said.

Sanofi, in July 2024, had announced a €400 million expansion of the GCC over six years and creation of an additional 1,600 jobs by 2026. From a medical hub in 2019, the facility here had grown exponentially to provide various services to the global functions of the French pharma giant and its affiliates across the world.

The GCC’s growth will create a diverse range of roles spanning research and development, digital innovation, data analytics, medical affairs, people services, finance and procurement services and commercial operations, offering exciting career opportunities for professionals at all levels, Sanofi said on Monday in a release on IT and Industries Minister D.Sridhar Babu inaugurating the GCC.

Current headcount at the GCC is a little more than 2,600 and the 2.7 lakh sq.ft. space is over and above the 2.8 lakh sq.ft. announced less than two years ago, sources said.

In a message, Chief Minister A.Revanth Reddy said “expansion of Sanofi’s GCC reflects Telangana’s growing stature as a global hub for innovation-driven life sciences [and strengthen] our vision of creating high-skilled employment, accelerating digital and scientific innovation and positioning the State among the world’s leading life sciences ecosystems.”

Sanofi’s head of business operations Madeleine Roach said “operations at the Hyderabad GCC serve to support critical processes across the drug research, development, manufacturing and access lifecycle. India’s exceptional talent pool in digital innovation, AI, and data science is instrumental in accelerating our transformation and advancing our mission”.

Telangana remains committed to providing world-class infrastructure, policy stability and talent ecosystems that enable global companies to scale with confidence, Mr.Sridhar Babu said.
