A total of 3,058 people in Ernakulam district have been found ineligible to be included in the final voters’ list, with the hearing and verification phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the rolls coming to a close. Those to be excluded from the list include voters who died during the SIR period, those who have permanently shifted from the district, and those who have relinquished Indian citizenship.
Hearings and verifications were conducted for 2,06,061 voters who fell in the no-mapping category and 2,03,328 voters found to have logical discrepancies during the enumeration phase. Voters whose details could not be linked directly or parentally with the 2002 SIR list were considered as unmapped.

Of the 14 Assembly constituencies in the district, most voters (642) will be excluded in Thripunithura, followed by Kalamassery (291), and Piravom (275). Kunnathunad has the least number of voters to be excluded, with only 71 found to be ineligible. Of the 4,06,366 voters who required verification, 4,03,308 have been parked for final publication, as per official data. The figures were presented before representatives of political parties by the district administration on Friday.
The number of voters found ineligible in other constituencies are as follows: Perumbavoor – 106, Angamaly – 142, Aluva – 233, Kalamassery – 291, Paravur – 160, Vypeen – 157, Kochi – 185, Ernakulam – 174, Thrikkakara – 255, Muvattupuzha – 192 and Kothamangalam – 175.
The hearing process, held at different locations across booths, was completed after verifying the authenticity of documents submitted by voters as per the guidelines of the Election Commission. Relatives of voters who were unable to appear in person were allowed to submit documents on behalf of them.
Those with objections to the decisions can file an appeal before the District Election Officer, the District Collector, within 15 days of receiving the order. After completing all procedural formalities, the final electoral roll will be published on February 21.
As on February 12, 2026, the electoral rolls in the district has 24,62,641 voters, including 11,99,202 male, 12,63,416 female and 23 transgender voters.
