Special sports competitions and cultural programmes will be organised for MLAs and MLCs to provide mental relaxation and renewed energy amid sustained political pressures, Speaker Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu said on Tuesday.

The Speaker reviewed the arrangements for the proposed events at a high-level meeting held at the Assembly premises, along with Deputy Speaker K. Raghurama Krishnam Raju, Sports Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy and Assembly Secretary General Prasanna Kumar. He said the initiative aims to promote physical fitness, camaraderie and stress relief among public representatives who function under constant pressure.

Directing officials to organise the events on a grand scale, on the lines of last year, Mr. Ayyanna Patrudu said the competitions would be held over four days during the Budget session. One full day will be devoted to cultural programmes, followed by a prize distribution ceremony for winners of various events.

Separate sports competitions will be organised for men and women MLAs and MLCs, taking into account their interests and physical preferences. The Speaker said the programmes would be designed to ensure wide participation and create an atmosphere of celebration within the Assembly campus.

Government Whips Anuradha, Yarlagadda Venkata Rao and Kuna Ravi Kumar, SAP Chairman Ravinaidu and senior officials attended the review meeting and offered suggestions on logistics and event management.

The Speaker said the complete schedule of the sports and cultural events would be announced officially in the coming days after final preparations are completed.
