The Supreme Court, on Tuesday (February 10, 2026), adjourned the hearing of a petition filed by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) seeking a CBI probe into West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and other officials for alleged obstruction during its search operation at the I-PAC office and the premises of its director, Pratik Jain, in connection with an alleged coal pilferage scam. The hearing has been rescheduled for February 18, 2026.
A Bench headed by Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra postponed the hearing after advocate Preetika Dwivedi made an oral mention that the lead counsel for West Bengal, senior advocate Kapil Sibal, was unwell.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the ED, acquiesced to the adjournment due to Mr. Sibal’s ill health but suggested that the case be scheduled for February 18.
Senior advocate A.M. Singhvi was also present in the courtroom as part of the case.
