A 14-year-old girl who was returning from school was allegedly abducted and raped by four men in the Mauganj district of Madhya Pradesh, police stated on Friday (February 6, 2026).

According to the police, the incident occurred on Thursday afternoon (February 5, 2026) when the girl, a resident of a village near Mauganj city and a class 8 student, was returning with her friend after taking a pre-board examination.

Mauganj Superintendent of Police (SP) Dilip Soni told The Hindu that Mintu Jaiswal, 24, the prime accused, who was the victim’s former senior and known to her, picked them up on his motorbike.

“Since both the girls knew him, they accepted. He dropped off the friend midway and took the victim to a nearby mining area and called three of his friends,” he said. The men allegedly got the girl drunk and raped her before abandoning her there.

All four arrested

Mr. Soni said that an FIR has been filed at the Mauganj police station for gang rape and abduction, and all of the accused have been arrested. Two accused, Mintu Jaiswal of Mauganj and Ravinandan Singh Gour, 22, of Sidhi district, were apprehended on Thursday (February 5, 2026) while Neeraj Jaiswal, 21, and Subhash Jaiswal, 23, both of Mauganj, were arrested on Friday night (February 6, 2026).

Mr. Soni stated that the girl is in hospital and her condition is stable, and her statement has been recorded.

He said that a medical examination has been performed on her and the reports are awaited.
