The Cubbon Park police on February 3 registered an FIR against security guards of The Bangalore Club for allegedly assaulting a 55-year-old private firm employee following a dispute over entry into the club to retrieve his lost mobile phone.

The incident occurred on February 2 afternoon near the club gate on Lavelle Road and was partially captured on mobile phones by passers-by. The videos later went viral on social media.

According to police, the victim, identified as Rajesh Ananth, had visited the club with his family on February 1. He allegedly forgot his mobile phone inside the premises.

At around 2 p.m. on February 2, he returned to retrieve the phone but was denied entry by the security staff despite repeated requests. The police said the situation escalated into a heated argument at the gate.

In his complaint, Mr. Rajesh alleged that one of the security guards assaulted him with a cane during the altercation. The police said the man, who appeared visibly disturbed and was under the influence of alcohol, removed his clothes in protest after being denied entry.

The police confirmed that videos of the incident have been collected as evidence. Based on his complaint, the police have registered an FIR.
