The Army said on Tuesday (February 3, 2026) that security forces are engaging a group of terrorists in a firefight in Udhampur’s Basantgarh area.

An Army spokesman said contact was made with the terrorists during ‘Operation Kiya’, by elements of the Army, the J&K Police, and the CRPF, at around 4 p.m. in the general area of Basantgarh.

The Army said the operation was launched following an intelligence input. “A cordon has been established. A firefight is on. The operation is in progress,” the Army said.
