Police on Monday reunited a five-year-old boy with his parents after he went missing from his neighbourhood earlier in the day.

According to Miyapur Inspector Shivaprasad, Siddharth, son of Rajesh and a resident of Miyapur New Colony, had wandered nearly a kilometre away from his house while playing outside in the morning and could not be traced by his family.

Police personnel on patrol noticed the child and took him into their care. After searching for his parents for about two hours, the police were able to identify and trace the family and safely hand over the boy.

The parents expressed relief and gratitude to the police, saying they were preparing to lodge a complaint after their own efforts to find the child were unsuccessful.
