Home Minister G. Parameshwara on Monday told the Legislative Assembly that 196 illegal Bangladeshi immigrants had been deported from Karnataka so far, while another 370 had been identified under the ongoing drive in this regard.
Replying on issues related to the law and order situation during a debate on the motion of thanks to the Governor’s address to the joint session of the legislature, Dr. Parameshwara said already the legal process was going on with respect to the deportation of the above 370 illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.
Denying the BJP’s allegations that the government was lethargic in identifying illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, the Home Minister said the Congress government had identified and deported more such illegal immigrants than the erstwhile BJP government.
Launching a counter-attack, he blamed the NDA government at the Centre for the illegal immigration of Bangladeshis into India.
Maintaining that the law and order situation in Karnataka was efficient compared with other States, he cited India Justice Report that had rated Karnataka top in terms of maintaining law and order in the country.
