The president of Tamil Nadu Vanigar Sangangalin Peramaippu, A.M. Vikramaraja, on Monday said that the federation’s governing body would decide to which party the traders should extend their support in the forthcoming Legislative Assembly elections.

Addressing the media at Thanjavur on February 2, Mr. Vikramaraja said the traders’ demands would be submitted to all the parties contesting the elections, during this week and their reply in writing would be sought. The governing body of the Peramaippu would take a decision based on the written assurances given by the political parties, he said.

He sought an increase in the limit of cash, carried by the traders during election period, from ₹50,000 to ₹2,00,000 and hassle-free release of cash or goods on production of documents.

The Federation’s State-level conference would be held in Tiruvarur in May this year, with the main objective of raising awareness about the dangers of online trading/business and to protect traders from the corporates.
