The Thiruvananthapuram City Police have put in place tight security arrangements in the city ahead of the T20 match between India and New Zealand set to be held at the Greenfield International Stadium, Karyavattom, on Saturday.

According to an official release, the security measures were finalised at a high-level review meeting chaired by Inspector General of Police, South Zone, G. Sparjan Kumar, and District Police Chief (Thiruvananthapuram City) K. Karthick. The meeting reviewed arrangements at key locations including the stadium, the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, and hotels accommodating the players and officials.

As per the security protocol, the stadium and its surrounding areas have been declared a temporary ‘Red Zone’ on January 30 and 31. The police have imposed a strict ban on the use of drones and drone cameras, flying of kites and balloons, and the use of laser beam lights within a two-kilometre radius of the stadium during these days.

All vehicles entering the stadium area will be subjected to stringent security checks. The police have also urged the public to cooperate fully with the security arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the international sporting event.

In addition, special traffic regulations will be enforced in the city on the match day. The public can contact the traffic control room at 0471-2558731 or 9497930055 for updates and assistance related to traffic arrangements, the police stated.
