After a social media influencer shared videos highlighting the poor condition of footpaths around Majestic, Central Corporation Commissioner Rajendra Cholan joined hands with volunteers to clean the area on Saturday.

The corporation commissioner, along with volunteers, cleaned up the stretch and was seen having breakfast on the same footpath in a video shared by the Commissioner’s office. Influencer Caleb Friesen was also seen in the video.

During the inspection, Mr. Cholan instructed officials to plant and maintain saplings next to the footpaths, arrange seating for pedestrians, provide space for protest at Freedom Park multi-level car parking when not in use, control parking on surrounding roads, remove unauthorised OFC cables, repair damaged chamber slabs near Anand Rao Circle, maintain cleanliness near public toilets, and take action against roadside littering.

The commissioner mentioned that plans are under way to completely transform the 5-6 km stretch in collaboration with NGOs, and citizen groups.
