Bharatiya Janata Party MLA and former Law & Parliamentary Affairs Minister S. Suresh Kumar has questioned the propriety of the ruling Congress itself staging a protest on Tuesday and making its legislators to participate in the protest instead of attending legislature session.

Referring to the Congress’ announcement that it would stage a Lok Bhavan Chalo protest on Tuesday at 11 a.m. and all its legislators and top leaders are participating in it, Mr. Suresh Kumar pointed out that the Legislative Assembly is scheduled to meet at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.

Pointing out that authorities have banned any protest that involves taking out marches on the streets of Bengaluru and involves laying a siege as per the High Court’s directives, he wondered how could the ruling party itself be given permission to take up such a protest that would be violative of the norms. He also wondered if such a permission would be granted to other parties too.

Referring to the proposed protest by BJP-JD(S) legislators, Mr. Suresh Kumar clarified that they were staging a protest within the Vidhana Soudha premises and that they would immediately attend the session too.
